At the entrance to Puerto Peñasco, on the drive in from Sonoyta, in a building measuring approximately 700 to 800 meters, resides the Rocky Medical Center and Spa. The clinic’s infrastructure is quite astounding and the center offers a comprehensive health program in a fully secured area, with round the clock surveillance. In addition, the center provides ample parking and first class facilities. As one enters and stands in the reception area, the highest standards of professionalism and tidiness designed into the medical center can be instantly perceived. While the center focuses on cosmetology, it offers services in a variety of specialties including surgery, anesthesia, orthopedic services, plastic surgery, and internal medicine. In addition, the center is set to begin services focused on oncology, gynecology, and ear, nose and throat specialists. The center fully meets the expectations of a new era for Puerto Peñasco. Yet, let us allow Griselda Esquivel, administrative manager of the center, tell us about the services they offer. Read more…

Puerto Peñasco remains free of any cases of the recent AH1N1 flu, though 30 cases have been confirmed in other parts of Sonora. However, stated José Julio Chávez León, head of local medical coordination for the Secretary of Health, it is necessary to keep our guard up and maintain preventive measures.
Chávez León remarked that analysis done up to now has confirmed two cases of seasonal flu in the area and one type B case, each of these already well known and easy to control.
He indicated though these patients have been taken care of in a timely manner, it is of the utmost importance for the community to continue adhering to recommendations regarding constant hygiene including refraining from using kisses or handshakes for greetings, among other steps, as cases of AH1N1 continue to be present both in Sonora as in other parts of the country.
