Denial that city projects are being slowed down
The state government will support the local municipality to achieve a financial reengineering to resolve adverse financial problems passed down from the former administration, reported Roberto Romero López, State Executive Technical Secretary.
During a press conference held after a city tour alongside the mayor and other city officials, Romero López denied that given the city’s adverse situation they are holding back city projects for Puerto Peñasco.
He underscored the administration of Sonora Governor Guillermo Padrés is focused on municipalities, and therefore they are working closely with cities so that together they may achieve beneficial results for the majority.
He noted municipal finances are not great, with outstanding debts of up to 230 million pesos, thus the importance of getting out from under these problems in order to provide results to the community.
Romero López indicated there are currently talks of a financial reengineering in order to obtain better terms from creditors and raise the credit rating of the municipal government.
He insisted the financial problems have not halted the development of city projects in Puerto Peñasco, as the city has a wealth of projects ready to go, totalling 380 million pesos. He noted shortly they would begin to launch projects to provide positive impacts for the community.
The State Executive Technical Secretary affirmed Peñasco has the full backing of Governor Padrés to resolve problems it inherited, such as financial concerns, and will facilitate primary projects including water, electricity, and sewage to benefit all sectors of the community.
Romero López mentioned they will address requests received from the Mayor in order to carry out each and every one of the projects of primary concern for Peñasco and in this way help to reactive the local economy and generate jobs.
The Mayor expressed his appreciation for the backing of the State Government, noting that through support provided to the Municipality they will have further opportunities to begin more projects to benefit the community of Peñasco.
