Cliftons contribute $15,000 US for DIF Children’s Shelter

clifton-copyA recent donation of $15,000 US (approximately 195,000 pesos at an exchange rate of 13 pesos per dollar), will go towards finishing the equipping of the Children’s Shelter for the local office of Integral Family Development (DIF).
Jeannette and Rodger Clifton recently presented a check for the aforementioned amount to Mayor Heriberto Rentería Sánchez, accompanied by his wife, Minerva Ramírez Rentería.
The Cliftons, who met with the Mayor in his office, remarked the donation had been with the noble intent of working toward the opening of the Children’s Shelter in the near future.
Rentería Sánchez thanked the altruistic American couple, local residents who have been devoted to the projects of the DIF system and have been a great help in finishing the construction of the unit to care for abandoned children. The center is tentatively set to open within one month.
Rodger Clifton stated he and his wife, as well as the local authorities, are very enthusiastic about this project that will greatly serve to help with social problems that confront minors who live with domestic violence and are abandoned by their families.
Minerva RamĂ­rez RenterĂ­a, president of the local DIF, specified these resources would be used for the purchase and installation of air conditioners, which are aimed at meeting quality standards to assure the optimal operation of the Shelter.
Similarly, Jeannette Clifton revealed they would be providing support for furnishings and a television for the rest area of the children. The objective is that children will temporarily receive care at the shelter and subsequently reintegrate back into family life.
